While we understand the urgency in attaining a mask ASAP, we cannot offer express shipping at this time.
We cannot offer returns or exchanges for our face masks for obvious reasons (rona/germies). If your face mask is faulty please contact us at email@example.com and we will gladly assist you.
Our masks have 3 layers = 1 layer of synthetic non-woven interfacing (acting as a filter) in between 2 layers of cotton/linen blend fabric.
We selected a linen/cotton blend to achieve a softer final product. 100% linen is too porous and 100% cotton is too stiff, so we compromised with a blend. The synthetic layer in the middle will act as a washable sewn-in filter which you cannot remove.
Instead of using elastic (which is a non-renewable synthetic) for the ear loops we have chosen a jersey string which we find more comfortable as well as more eco-friendly. It is made of 80% recycled cotton and 20% polyester. It is either light grey or black in colour (as pictured).
The dimensions of our masks are the same as common hospital-grade disposable ones. They measure 17cm across the face with 17cm loops to go around the ears (give or take a few millimetres!). They fit most faces with a bit of give in the ear-loops. Tim said to write that he has a big head and they still fit him :D
We recommend washing your mask after each use. It seems silly to reuse a dirty mask, so consider having several masks to rotate through the wash. We have tested our masks in a 60 degree machine cycle, but any hotter and you will risk shrinking or damaging your mask.
Do not tumble dry them - we have no idea what will happen if you do. Hand-washing is fine, but ain't nobody got time for that! (Except maybe Melbournians...) You can use a warm iron after it's washed to keep it looking crisp, but take care that it's not too hot!
Try to handle the mask as little as possible, placing the loops around the ears and pulling the lower front of the mask down over your chin. It should sit comfortably just below your eyes and cover your nose, mouth and chin.
Please note these are not intended for medical use and of course, we recommend wearing a mask in addition to social distancing and regular hand washing. This mask does not make you immune to viruses (but we wish it did!).
Phew. That was a lot of words.
